At the start of the school year, teachers will receive instructions about how to distribute and collect consent forms from their students.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone needs extra consent forms, the main office will have them available in 6 languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, Vietnamese, Cambodian and Chinese.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft visible-for-medium-up\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/kid-form.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The steps from there are simple:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shootheflu.org\/alameda\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/STF-Talking-Points-2018-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Download and review talking points<\/a> to understand the program.<\/li>\n<li>Distribute consent forms to students. <a href=\"\/consent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Download extra consent forms.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Distribute teacher envelopes for teachers to collect students\u2019 signed consent forms.<\/li>\n<li>Set up the provided collection box to collect teacher envelopes. (Please keep in a visible place in the front office.)<\/li>\n<li>Have fun with Shoo the Flu.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/resources\/#for_schools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Visit the Resources<\/a> page for sample lesson plans and activities to talk about how to prevent the flu and other illnesses.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/meet-flu-germs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Download coloring pages<\/a> for your students and put up the provided posters around campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"anchor\"><\/div>\n<p><a name=\"what_to_expect\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"clear\"><b>What To Expect During Shoo the Flu Vaccine Days<\/b><\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright visible-for-medium-up\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/school-fact1_blank.png\" alt=\"\" \/>Exact details will vary between schools, but the goal everywhere is to get students vaccinated safely, efficiently and without any unnecessary disruption to the school day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The clinics will be set up in a large area such as a multi-purpose room, gym or empty classroom.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers provided by the school will help bring students to the vaccination area by classroom.<\/li>\n<li>Teachers are asked to help confirm the identity of students prior to leaving the classroom.<\/li>\n<li>The whole process should take only about 20 minutes per classroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"anchor\"><\/div>\n<p><a name=\"reasons\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"clear\">Reasons to Vaccinate Against the Flu<\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft visible-for-medium-up\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/school-fact2.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s no secret that benefits of flu vaccination help the whole community. It\u2019s the best defense we\u2019ve got against the flu. Plus, it can help:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Improve\u00a0attendance.<\/strong> Students stay healthy, which means fewer sick days home from school.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lesson plans stay on track.<\/strong> Better attendance helps more students keep up with their studies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teachers stay healthy, too.<\/strong> With less exposure to sick students, your risk of catching the flu decreases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"anchor\"><\/div>\n<p><a name=\"contact\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"clear\">Who to Contact<\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright visible-for-medium-up\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/school.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Every school should have a designated staff member who can help answer Shoo the Flu questions specific to your school.
